The Eidolon Launch - A Storming Success

Yet again proving to be bigger than any previous event, Solaris's latest debut author Libby McGugan launched her SF thriller The Eidolon upon the public at Waterstones, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow last night. To a packed house (they ran out of chairs), Libby showed the book trailer that she and a filmmaker friend put together, and then read one of the opening scenes of the book before a fascinating Q&A. Another writer present came up to me afterwards to say he was ditching the book he had just started (having waited to get his hands on it for a long time), in order to read The Eidolon first after what he had heard that night. That's exactly how we felt when we first came across the manuscript. Libby signed for an hour, sold the shop out of her book (even the emergency back-up box), and then took the whole crowd around the corner to the pub where the practicing doctor and novelist revealed herself to be a skilled musician. She and her fiddle group (eight of them) lit up the rest of the evening with a non-stop foot-tapping session. Not a launch we'll be forgetting anytime soon.

You can buy The Eidolon in ebook here, and the paperback in all good bookshops and your internet retailer of choice!
