Solaris BSFA Winners and Hugos Nominees

We're thrilled to announce that on Sunday evening Ack Ack Macaque by Gareth L. Powell won the BSFA award for Best Novel, tying with Anne Leckie's remarkable SF novel, Ancillary Justice. There was also a win for artist extraordinaire Joey Hi-Fi for his cover for Tony Ballantyne's Dream London.

 

Friday night saw the announcement of the Hugos short-list and it was particularly nice to see some friends on there: Benjanun Sriduangkaew is short-listed for the John W. Campbell Best New Writer award. Benjanun is a superb author and we're pleased to have published her stories in End of The Road, and the forthcoming Dangerous Games. 'Fade to Gold' from End of The Road was selected by Jonathan Strahan for Year's Best Science Fiction and Fantasy 8. Likewise, it was lovely to see our friends Pornokitsch in the Best Fanzine category. If you haven't checked their excellent site out, you really should. Both Jonathan Strahan and Ellen Datlow have been nominated in the Best Editor, short form category. Ellen is a superb horror editor, and for us she produced the brilliant Poe. We've also had a long and very productive working relationship with Strahan, who has produced many excellent SF and F anthologies for us including the Infinity series of SF anthologies, Fearsome Journeys and the Best of SF and F series. It's terrific to see both editor's work garner recognition.
