Rocketmen

I read this at lunchtime and completely nerded out for about half an hour afterwards. This story has everything: Spies, spaceships, radio hams, cover-ups, frozen corpses in space. Even the Fiat 600 makes an appearance!

"Once they arrived back in Turin, they found Torre Bert besieged by fans, enthusiasts – and spies from both sides who had started hanging around. Every now and again, their “guardian angel” appeared to tell the brothers just who these sinister characters were. Documents went missing, including some blurry pictures of the Moon trans mitted from the Soviet Lunik 4 probe. “But we’d already sent copies to the papers,” said Gian, “so it didn’t matter."

The documentary about these guys has just gone to the top of my must-see list.
