Another great convention at Alt Fiction this year in Derby. One of my favourites, this one, with a host of writing and literature related panels all condensed into a heady book-related afternoon. It's an event that makes the publishing industry a little more open. A host of Solaris names in attendance, including Brian Lumley, Juliet McKenna, Eric Brown, Big George Mann, Dunny, and myself. Hardcore SF action-man Andy Remic couldn't make it due to Man Flu. There were lots of bloggers, reviewers, agents and editors, and potential future writers. If it's running next year, you should really check it out.
And finally, we held a Speed Dating event, Solaris style. Here's a photo of table three, with the promiscuous young socialite Christian Dunn and rising SF star Eric Brown. Smouldering gazes across a pint of real ale, open body language... we treat our authors well. Captions most welcome.

I'm really regretting forgetting my camera now...
"What you say we ditch this dish water and go and find us some real beer."
I definitely want to be one of your authors. ;-)
Christian: "When I rub my thighs like this, it just means I'm thinking of offering you an extended publishing deal... honest..."
Eric; "Waiter! The bill, if you please..."
Whoever wins the staring contest gets to drink it.
(or, to satisfy edash, "Whoever loses the staring contest has to drink it.")
Awwww, sweet. ;-)
