SF Snobbery Debate

I know there are a billion of these every year, but it's early in 2008, and this one at The Guardian is actually rather good.
Science fiction writers are dismissed by the mainstream, but for mind-expanding ideas and sheer narrative excitement the genre is hard to beat.

There seem to be a lot of mainstream websites and blogs riffing on SF at the moment. EW.com have a great blog posting urging the Sci Fi channel to adapt more SF classics for the screen, and to recruit top SF authors to create original shows.
