It's funny, I never stop and think 'hey, my uncle's inventing a flying car' - it sounds like something out of Back to the Future with the mad scientist tinkering away in his garage.

The only time I stop and think 'HEY! My uncle is working on a flying car' is when I see articles about the things. Then I remember, and writing SF seems rather mundane by comparison ;-)
